| Cluster: A Study of Small-Scale Plasma Structures and Processes
The aim of the Cluster mission is to study small-scale structures of the magnetosphere and its environment in three dimensions. To achieve this, Cluster is constituted of four identical spacecraft that fly in a tetrahedral and multi-scale configurations. The separation distances between the spacecraft has varied between 600 km and 10000 km during the mission according to the key scientific regions. The scientific output of the mission is key to understanding space plasma physics, space weather and the Sun-Earth connection.
